Hafnium is always found in minor quantities in Zirconium minerals. Hafnium is a silvery shining metal and very easy to deform as a pure element. The main field of application is the nuclear technology. Due to the high neutron capture cross section Hafnium is used in control-rods for regulation of chain reaction in nuclear reactors.
